The Jericho Brass
There was a time in America when a local
brass band was virtually the sole source of
entertainment in many communities. It is
estimated that in 1900, there were over
75,000 brass bands in the United States.
Bandsmen like John Philip Sousa, Carl King,
Herbert Clark, and Henry Filmore were widely
known and recognized, as they were the “rock stars” of their day. Brass bands were
sponsored by newspapers, distilleries, police
and fire departments, cotton mills, DAR groups,
and Temperance Unions. From the Sears and Roebuck
catalog,
The Jericho Brass pays homage
to this great tradition. It strives to
faithfully participate in and to help advance the current resurgence of
brass banding in the USA. |

Olde Towne Brass
Olde Towne Brass performs in the manner of Early
American
and Civil War bands, playing original Civil
War Music on actual Civil War Over-The-Shoulder
(OTS) Brass Horns.
With their special emphasis on
the War Between the States, Olde Towne Brass
presents programs that provide their listeners with
history and information about the composer and the
song. Their renditions of these timeless and compelling
tunes are played just as they were more than 135
years ago.
The music library of Olde Towne Brass
includes over 2500 songs of both the Confederate
and Union Bands which has been compiled from
various resources across the country including the
Library of Congress and the Museum of the
Confederacy. |

The 8th Regiment Band
Georgia Volunteer Infantry
of Rome, Georgia
"The 8th"is the modern counterpart of the Band of
the Eighth Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry,
whose men gallantly served their Homeland from 1st
Manassas in 1861 to Appomattox in 1865.
It was
perhaps the largest Georgia band as well as the first
to go to the Army of Northern Virginia. Original band
scores and authentically styled arrangements from
period piano scores are combined
with original mid-
nineteenth century instruments and loving care to
produce the band’s programs. |

The Georgia Brass Band
The band’s repertoire is quite diverse and ranges from the Renaissance and Baroque to the 21st
century. The library is full of marches, sacred arrangements, popular music, jazz tunes, movie themes,
and classical transcriptions.
First and foremost, the Georgia Brass Band exists to offer both its members and its audiences a
quality musical experience. It is our distinct pleasure to bring this outstanding genre of brass music to
listeners everywhere. |
